What Exactly Is Branding?

We see this word everywhere but what does it actually mean? There are many definitions for the word “Branding” but our definition for Online Commerce is to create a shopping experience that will stick in the mind of your customers. This basically means that from the moment they see your ad to the moment they receive their “Thank you for your purchase” email you must create a consistent and thorough experience.

By experience and consistency in terms of Online Commerce, it means you must always avoid using standard templates for Email pop ups, Ads, Website Themes, Checkout Pages, Videos, Profile Pictures, and other Sale Channels you might use. Remember the two keywords: Consistency and Thorough. Here is the breakdown of how you should tailor each of the following categories to create a Brand Awareness:

Color Scheme

It’s recommended that you keep 3 main colors for your website, for example you can go with a scheme of Red/Black/White. The White is for the main background of the website, while the red and black can be used for menus, submenus, and other boxes that support your website’s content.

Color schemes are very crucial because they can create positive emotions on your customers so they buy your products. For example you are going to want a Red color on your “Add to Cart” button because Red is usually associated with action, initiative, and assertiveness.

Fonts

Fonts are also very important and you can use them to keep a branding experience for your customers. Depending on your niche, you might want to use fonts that are similar to that niche. Make sure you maintain consistency so for example, if you add a pop up email you should try to keep the same fonts or something close to the rest of your website. Lastly, just remember to apply the same or similar fonts to other things such as newsletters, pop up emails, shipping labels (if you ship the product yourself), and anything that uses fonts and if you are able to change them.

Logo

Logos are the main flagship of your Branding. You should try to create a Logo that clearly defines your product or services. It is not very difficult to come up with a Logo idea. If you want to brainstorm some ideas, simply do a Google search to get some ideas and then adapt them to your own design. We can also offer you to help you set up with some Logo templates, visit “Our Graphic and Logo Design” section for more information.

Email Pop Up

Don’t ever use the standard template used in email pop ups. People are going to look at them and think that your website isn’t as professional as you are trying to sell it for. You can also add images but if you do make sure they are related to your brand. Most people also just stick to their logo and the standard 3 colors they use for the overall theme of the website

Email Template

Basically the same idea as the email pop up. Hopefully now you are seeing how consistency will help people be aware of your brand. If people see the same 3 colors of your site, the logo, fonts, email pop up, and now on your email template they are going to remember and recognize your brand. When you build your email template, you should use the same logo, 3 color scheme, and fonts if possible.

Conclusion

The two main words to remember are Consistency and Thorough. Your brand will be more memorable and people will quickly associate it with the authority over your niche or market. You can also use this same system of having everything be consistent and thorough in other sales channel. For example, if you decide to open a Brick and Mortar store, you should use the same colors from your website and logo. If you decide to send physical mail, make sure to include the same color schemes and logo.
